PARKING TEAM

Neither rain, nor heat, nor snow will keep us from parking with a friendly smile and wave.

Instructions for Parking Lot Cones Setup Team

  • Arrival time about 7:45am so cones are in place by 8:00am.
  • Safety vests are on the coat rack to the right of the main entrance to the building.
  • The cart that contains the cones is in the hallway along the south side of the building, just to the right of the main entrance to the auditorium.
  • See map below for approximate placement of cones. Drop the cones about every 15 feet apart.
  • Leave the cart out of the way near the volunteer parking area.

Instructions for Parking Lot Teams

  • Shift starts 20 minutes prior to start of the service time and ends 10 minutes after the start of service so that you can be in the service prior to the start of the message.
  • Safety vests are on the coat rack to the right of the main entrance to the building.
  • Best to have a person stationed at the main entrance from Kalberer Road, a person at the corner of the lot, and a person near the handicapped and visitor parking area.
  • Smile, wave, and greet families as they head into the building. Assist as needed with wheelchairs, strollers, or elderly walking into the building.  If you see a visitor or someone needs help, direct them to a volunteer at the front entry.
  • As the parking lot begins to fill up, direct cars to a specific row where there are openings. At very busy times, it might be best to have a volunteer in the row identifying spots while another directs cars up that row. (Think Disney World!). Usually as the late traffic arrives, pull the cones at the entry and start sending cars down the western side of the lot rather than have them circle the entire lot.
  • If we run out of spots, please park along the curb and islands nearest the dumpster, as marked on the map below. We can also park cars along the circle drive. Please do not park people in the grass on the east side of the lot. If absolutely necessary, have cars park in the grass along the front drive as marked on the map below.
  • In order to get traffic out as efficiently as possible, and so we can get the next crowd in, please dismiss many cars at a time from an aisle rather than alternating.
  • WLPD said it is also ok to jump in the street and stop traffic to get larger volumes moved out quickly. Make sure you are wearing a vest!
  • At the end of the shift, place the cones on the cart and return cart to the building. Return the cart to the hallway along the south side of the building, just to the right of the main entrance to the auditorium.
