WORSHIP TEAM

Info for new & current team members.

We are created to worship.

We do this whether we know it or not. Though many worship things that this world has to offer, our church defines worship from a quote from Louie Giglio, “Worship is our response, both personal and corporate, to God for who He is, and what He has done; expressed in and by the things we say and the way we live.”

More specifically, we at Calvary use music as an avenue to worship God. It's not the only way to worship, but we do this as a church by gathering and singing together on Sunday mornings each week. When we say "Worship Team", we mean everyone from band and vocals on stage to sound engineer, livestream coordinator, and camera operators! This group of people set the atmosphere for those in attendance to worship Jesus! It is our goal each week to strive for an environment ,for both those in attendance and those joining us online, that will lead us to worship the God who saves.

Join the Team!

Whether you have musical talent or not, we have a place for you!

A few things before you get started!

Team members on this team will be asked to be at rehearsals on the week you are scheduled. Most weeks, rehearsal day is on Thursdays at 7:00pm, however occasionally we will switch to other nights of the week.

You will also be asked on weeks you are scheduled to arrive at church before 7:15am! We will start rehearsals at that time. For more info, check out our worship team handbook!

All scheduling is done through Planning Center. You will be required to have this app on your phone or have a computer to accept or decline the request to serve.

Worship Team

Join the Band

  • Keys - Keys are responsible for setting the foundation by which the music is played. Keys also play in most transitions between songs, welcome time, coming out of sermon, and at the closing of service. We use Nord keyboards and ask that the person scheduled to play, play the churches equipment.

  • Electric Guitar - Electric guitars at the shimmer and shine as well as help drive the song! We do have an extra amp on hand, however the rest of electric guitar gear is brought in by the person scheduled that week.

  • Bass - There are two instruments that will make or break a band, drums and bass! Bass brings the rhythm and depth into the song. We do have a bass that you are welcome to play. Some of our bass players bring their personal instrument and pedals in.

  • Drums - The second component of a great band is drums! Drums do everything from carry the tempo to drive the bus when it comes to a song. Drummers are also responsible for operating our clicks and guides each week. Clicks and guides are operated through an iPad in an app called “Playback” The church owns all drum equipment and the person scheduled will be required to use the churches drum-set to play!

  • Vocals - Vocals tell the story. It is the lyrics of the song and the emotions of the music by which we are stirred to worship God. We run between two to as many as five vocals on a Sunday. Vocals are responsible for coming to rehearsals prepared and somewhat knowing a part in the song. We will define parts more in rehearsals on Thursdays.

Production

  • Sound Engineer - The person that holds the keys! Sound Engineers require several levels of training in order to be on team in this area.

  • Livestream Coordinator - This person is coordinates all camera angles and content going through the livestream. We use a Blackmagic Video Switcher and communicate to camera operators via intercom system.

  • Video Computer Tech - Familiar with Pro Presenter 7? This job is for you. Video Computer Tech's oversea Song lyrics on screen and on livestream, Sermon notes, Announcement slides, and any videos played during service all through Pro Presenter 7. This job requires some skill but can be taught over a couple of sessions!

  • Camera Operator - Camera Operators are responsible for keeping their camera centered in the frame. In coordination with the Livestream Coordinator throughout the service, camera operators move the camera to certain shots and zoom features. This service is fairly easy, you just need to be tall enough to see the screen!

  • Lighting Tech - Similar to the Sound Engineer, Lighting Tech controls the emotion of the room through different lighting styles throughout the service. There is a bit of a learning curve with this role and so several levels of training are require before operating.
